Once upon a time in Bulgaria...
Well...
Besides being Georgi Petrov I am also the webmaster of www.VisitDaniela.com. Or to be more exact I’m the web developer behind it.
I work in the European Parliament in Luxembourg doing EP’s official website. But since it is official, I do not get to say too much about how it should look or what should be on it.
On the other hand, VisitDaniela.com is in my hands. Except when Daniela puts her foot down (on them) of course ;)
So, I was born in Varna (Bulgaria) about 29 years ago. Lived in Sredec (Grudovo) and had a lovely childhood. (Thanks mom and dad for that... and all my childhood friends!)
Then I started high-school and moved to the English Language School in Bourgas. So close to the sea. I love Bourgas! - first real walk in the park, first real love, first real girl-friend, first real kiss, first real getting drunk, first real getting f..... Ok, so when the high-school was over it was time to go on.
After some hard exams, off I went to study Scandinavistics in Sofia University. I lived in Students town, had some big fun. Unforgettable memories. Unforgettable people. A lot of real things there too... But not everything turned out to be just as great as I wished, so I looked for a change. I changed what I could (even dyed my hair) but in the end decided to go for a childhood dream: "Let's study abroad!"...
No sooner said than done.
I left for Sweden to study Scandinavian Languages in Stockholm's University.
Stockholm is a lovely city!... a bit too cold and cloudy at times but full with nice people. After the first 6 months there I thought that I had run out of money and I was on my way back to Bulgaria.
But then I somehow got “stuck” in Stockholm and stayed there some more.
When I was done with Swedish and Norwegian (even a little bit of Danish) that is to say when I got my Bachelor’s degree, I did Data and System Science for a year in Stockholm’s IT University.
After this final year in Sweden, I moved to KU Leuven (Belgium) for another year. A lovely town with a lovely excess of all kinds of beer. There I did a Master Program in Artificial Intelligence (AI). It sounds crazy, I know, but AI is not as fictional as Isak Asimov describes it. Besides AI, I also did a lot of other things... one of which crucial - I met my wife.
Leuven was over and I had to go on - I was again on my way back to Bulgaria. Then I suddenly got a traineeship in the EP in Luxembourg. So, I got married and left for Luxembourg. Luckily, my lovely wife (the lovely owner of this lovely site) followed me shortly after. Just as planned!
A year later, I was again on my way back to Bulgaria, but then I got a contract with the EP for 2 more years. And that is how I am still in Luxembourg, still on my way back to Bulgaria... Maybe I'd come back when these two years are over, but that's too early to tell.
So, back to the begining. I do web design, I love music and I love to play football. Nothing different from the rest of the man-kind, I guess:)
This is shortly who I am and what I am. And maybe why exactly I am what I am.
